The second half of the previous year provided us with ideal conditions for bumper crops leading into 2017 and was a stark contrast to the previous year. Hay production was plentiful, water supplies remained adequate and feed for our sheep to graze was abundant for much of summer.
We then had a prolific lambing season commencing in April. The lambing rate was well above 100 per cent from 800 ewes with many twins and several sets of triplets. A small but rewarding part of this success was our ability to assist those experiencing difficulties during the birthing process and fostering orphaned lambs onto other ewes using adoption pens.
